<p>Just &#8230; wow.</p>
<p>this thing has gone unnoticed for over 20 years.  And in most cases, probably wouldn&#8217;t affect you, since integer overflow isn&#8217;t a huge problem for you &#8220;typical&#8221; application.</p>
<p>It only took a second for me to pick out what the bug was.  But, that&#8217;s after having the <i>exact line</i> of code pointed out, <i>and</i> knowing it was wrong..   These things are insideous.</p>
